Ayurvedic Yoga Massage
Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) is a body treatment originated in Pune, India.
Initially developed by Master Kusum Modak (direct student of B. K. S. Iyengar), it combines relaxing strokes, deep tissue techniques, and passive yoga stretches.
It is performed on the floor and the therapist can use her hands, arms and feet.
What makes it really special is that the therapist lets you decide the pace at which all of this happens, by simply and carefully following the rhythm of your breath throughout the whole session. It can therefore be as vigourous or gentle as you want.
The sequence for the day is taylored to your needs and two sessions are never the same. It is a suitable treatment for any type of body, from athletes to people with disabilities or chronic/degenerative conditions.

AYM can also be regarded as a guided deep meditation, in which the therapist helps the client to let go of unwanted issues and stress, as well as supporting her/him with dealing with the range of emotions that naturally come to the surface during a session.
The massage is carried out on bare skin with the use of medicated oil (generally sweet almond oil) and Calamus powder. Both these help inducing a greater sense of relaxation and encourage the release and removal of toxins.
